Wriggle & Rhyme returns to Waitomo District Library

Waitomo District Libraries’ Wriggle & Rhyme programme is a fun and free activity session for parents, and children from birth to two years.

Wriggle & Rhyme provides positive movement experiences designed to stimulate the development of your child’s body and brain - building the foundations for early literacy and learning.

Sessions are held every Wednesday from 10am – 10.30am.

Information about Temporary Road Closures

Activities on roads must be planned in a way that maintains everyone’s safety and minimises disruption, delay or inconvenience to road users.

Traffic management needs to be considered where an event disrupts the normal flow of traffic or pedestrian access.

If you are planning an event that requires some or all of a local road to be closed temporarily, contact us to discuss your needs. We will provide you with guidance to ensure you comply with traffic management plan requirements.


Reminder to residents about responsible dog ownership

Dog owners are reminded that it is an offence to allow dogs to roam. If a dog is impounded by Animal Control (for the first offence), it will cost the owner $66.00, plus $12.00 per day for food. These costs will need to be paid in full before the dog is released from the pound.  We require owners of unregistered dogs to pay the current registration fee, before the dog is released from the pound. 

Having a microchip implanted in your dog greatly increases the chances of reuniting you and your dog if it goes missing. It also assists WDC’s Animal Control Officer in identifying roaming dogs and dealing with their owners. Our microchipping clinic is held every Friday from 2pm-3pm. There is a one-off fee of $20.00 to microchip a dog. Please contact our Customer Services Team to make an appointment.
